* The Preamble to the constitution sets the main objective which the Constituent Assembly imended to achieve.
* It embodies the ideals and aspirations of the people of India. The "Objective Resolution" proposal by Pandit Nehru, Ultimately became the preamble.
* It is non-justiciable in nature.
* It cannot override the specific provisions ofthe Constitution.
* Preamble is a part of the Constitution
* lt is subject to the amending power of the parliament under article 368, but through addition only.
*‘ The Preamble has been amended only once so far in 1976 by the 42nd Constitutional Amendment Act which inserted the words ‘Socialist, Secular and lntegrity.
* It declares the ideals i,e. Sovereign, Socialist, Secular, Democratic Republic which have been achieved as lndia has been Proclaimed in the constitution.
* The Preamble is termed as "Political Horoscope" by K.M. Munshi, "Key to the Constitution" by camest Barker and "Soul of the Constitution" by Thakurdas Bhargav.
